High  Latitudes: Farley Mowat, 2002

The Canadian Arctic, only Europeans could be so blind as to call it the barren lands. Author Farley Mowat writes his 2 year experience visiting on what was one of the last frontiers on earth in the 1960’s.

From whaling to mining exploration to Dew line construction the items of Arctic of discovery are documented in this well-written book.

Protestant and Catholic missions both “tell us what to do.” Why was the Art Cooperative of such interest to the culture of the north in modern times.

The building of identity from Robert Service, Jack london the RCMP and the mad trapper man hunt gives the names places personality from the past some life and legs to appreciate the high latitudes and the value of the land that owned them.

The future of what in earlier times may have been fought over is in Canadian and scientific  hands at this time. See and feel the pulse and life of the frozen north through this book.
